Dorothy W. Huston, PhD. – Founder/CEO

Dorothy Huston, Ph.D.

Dorothy W. Huston, PhD., is Founder/CEO of Technology Management Training Group, Inc. She has over 35 years of experience in organizational change and leadership, program planning and execution, training and development, student development, research administration, fundraising, and educational program outreach. 

Dr. Huston led the establishment of the Alabama A&M University Research Institute in 1999, a business entity designed to respond to a diverse business and industry clientele in partnership with the university. She served as Vice President for Research and Development for seven years, during which research funding and contracting grew from $13 million to over $30 million annually. She designed the state and federal program for Alabama A&M University, garnering over $20 million in special state and federal appropriations. She executed unprecedented agreements with business and industry, including loaned executives, IPAs, cooperative agreements, and partnership agreements that include support for co-ops, interns, and corporate scholarships. Dr. Huston has consulted with and provided training for more than 50 organizations and agencies. She is an experienced proposal developer, evaluator, and trainer. 

Dr. Huston earned her undergraduate degree at Alabama A&M University in 1979 and her Masters and Doctorate degrees from Ohio State University in 1980 and 1983, respectively. She is a 2006 graduate of Harvard University’s School of Business Executive Development Institute. In addition, she is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County and Leadership Alabama. She holds additional credits and certificates in student personnel administration, environmental safety, lean processes, and executive leadership development. She has participated in management development in Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, British Columbia, and New Zealand.

She publishes The Valley Weekly each week, in print and online at www.valleyweeklyllc.com. She offers leadership experience as Executive Director of the Tennessee Valley Diversity Leadership Colloquium (www.diversityleadershipcolloquium.com). The Colloquium is offered in the spring and fall of each year to local residents. 

Huston has earned awards from diverse organizations, including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, AAMU Alumni Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity-Delta Theta Lambda Education Association, Coalition of 100 Black Women, Oakwood University, Women’s Economic Council of North Alabama, Union Chapel Christian Academy and Girls Incorporated. She is a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

She has been involved in the Tennessee Valley Community as a servant leader and volunteer. More recently her service includes the following boards and organizations:

Daniel (Dan) R. Farmer – President/COO

Dan Farmer

Daniel (Dan) R. Farmer joined Technology Management and Training Group Inc. as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer May 1, 2008. His career spans 38 years of service to both the U.S. Army and the Defense Industry. Dan directs corporate operations and supervises management staff and program directors for all technical and programmatic efforts for the Department of Defense, partnerships with academic institutions, and industry partners.

He formerly served with Intuitive Research Technology Corporation (INTUITIVE), an Inc. 500 Company, and System Dynamic International Incorporated (SDI) with responsibilities ranging from the Director of Program Management-Support Programs to Senior Program Analyst. Mr. Farmer led the development an emerging Program Support Directorate supporting the U.S. Army Aviation Missile Research Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC), Program Executive Office (PEO) Aviation and the Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program office in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). As the Director for Support Programs, he led the largest corporate directorate to support more than 20 Department of Defense programs. Mr. Farmer directed all sustainment engineering and analytical support functions for more than 30 different customers.

Prior to entering industry, Mr. Farmer spent 20 years of his career in the U.S. Army as an Army Officer serving in both command and staff positions. He attended U.S. Army Combined Arms Service Staff School, U.S. Army Chemical Officers Advanced Course, U.S. Army Air Defense Basic Officer Course, U.S. Army Technical Escort Course, and the U.S. Army Instructor Training Course.

Mr. Farmer has an Associate Degree in Computer Science Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Religious Studies from North Alabama Christian College. Mr. Farmer has numerous military awards and decorations.
